1. According to the purpose of the tire, for example, in my country’s national tire standards, the American tire rim manual, the European tire rim standards, the Japanese tire standards and the international tire standards are classified by purpose, which can be divided into the following types:
1.) Passenger car tire
It is a tire installed on a car. It is mainly used for high-speed driving on good roads. The maximum driving speed can reach more than 200 km/h. It requires a comfortable ride, low noise, and good maneuverability and stability. Most tire structures are radial structures. According to the requirements of driving speed, it is divided into different series. In the standards and manuals, the 95 and 88 series are bias tires, and the 80, 75, 70, and 65 series are radial tires.
2.) Light truck tires
It usually refers to truck tires with a rim diameter of 16 inches and below and a cross-sectional width of 9 inches and above. This type of tire is mainly driven on roads, and the driving speed can generally reach 80~100 km/h.
3). Load and bus tires
Usually refers to the rim diameter of 18~24 inches, section width of 7 inches and above the truck, dump truck, all kinds of special and trailer tires. Its driving road is more complicated, there are good asphalt roads, but also poor gravel roads, mud roads, muddy roads, ice and snow roads, and even no road conditions, etc., the driving speed generally does not exceed 80 km/h.
4.) Construction machinery tire
Construction machinery tires are installed on special-purpose construction machinery vehicles, such as loaders, bulldozers, excavators, land leveling machines, road rollers and stone work machines. The driving speed is not high, but the road conditions and load performance requirements are harsh. The tire mainly adopts the bias structure, but the French company also adopts the radial structure. From the classification of tire section width, it can be divided into two series of standard tires and wide-base tires.
5.) Off-road vehicle tires
Off-road vehicles are front and rear wheel drive. Off-road vehicle tires are mainly driven on bad roads such as deserts, muddy ground, soft soil or other roads without roads. The tires are required to have high passing performance. Off-road tires often use low air pressure, and some also use pressure-regulating tires. Adjust the size of the tire pressure. In order to improve cross-country passability, measures such as widening the tire section and rim width, and reducing the rim diameter are generally used to increase the ground contact area and reduce the ground contact pressure. In addition to the bias tire structure, the tire structure also uses a radial structure.
6.) Tyres for agricultural and forestry machinery
Agricultural tires are mainly used on tractors, compain combine harvesters and agricultural machinery vehicles. Forestry machinery tires are installed on forestry tractors and forestry machinery to carry out forestry cutting, gathering, shoveling and digging operations. These two types of tires are characterized by low driving speed requirements, but their use conditions are harsh. They are often driven on poor field roads and hard stubble or gravel mountain roads, even roads without pavement, and the tires are easy to be scratched or cut. Another feature is intermittent operation, short mileage, but long service life, so the tire is required to have good flex crack resistance and aging resistance. The tire is mainly of bias structure, but also of radial structure.
7.) Industrial vehicle tires
It is mainly used for pneumatic tires, semi-solid tires and solid tires on industrial vehicles. Sub-battery car tires, forklift tires and flat car tires.
8.) Motorcycle tire
Used for tires on motorcycles. Including motorcycle tires, moped tires and small wheel diameter motorcycle tires.
9). aviation tire
Pneumatic tires used on aircraft.
10) Special vehicle tires
Including gun truck tires, tank tires, armored vehicle tires, desert tires, explosion-proof vehicle tires, etc.
11) Tyre
Pneumatic tires for bicycles, tricycles and trolleys.
2. Classification by structure
1), bias tire: the carcass ply is generally at an angle of 48-55 ° with the radial direction, and the adjacent two layers of ply are staggered into a Chuck shape.
2) Radial tires: The fundamental difference between radial tires and bias tires is that the angle of the carcass cord is zero degrees to the radial direction, and the cords of adjacent layers do not intersect but are parallel to each other.
